Living on-site are two standard poodles, hefty of size, full of happy love.

Australian wildlife you might see or hear include possums, they live in the trees and often gallop full speed across the roof making an unholy racket. This is normal and nothing to be afraid of.

They are game, these cockies. That is the very tree the ravens keep their sandwiches in. Who is the boss, raven or cockatoo? In spring, there is a returning pair of Rosellas nesting in a box on the wall near the main bedroom. The time they hang around is brief but extremely chatty.

The birdbath in the front garden is popular with the local birds, from honey eaters to ravens, they all like a splash. Ravens are insistent on letting you know that this is their turf. They are the funniest things, we are fans. They like to hide sandwiches in my pine trees for later on, or for Ron as we say. Don’t be surprised if the birdbath has a greasy film or some olives floating, that just means the ravens have used it to soften day old pizza. Please be nice to the ravens, they are wonderful creatures.
Surrounding Daylesford is forest and farmland, plenty of wildlife there if you are trying to see more than what I can offer. We have wombats, koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, snakes, lizards, owls, eagles and others, deer, boar, many things you want to avoid hitting with your car so drive below speed if it is dark, or slippery. In winter it can be icy, slow down.

Bucket hat, I hear you ask? It is ridiculous, sure, yet infinitely preferable to the hair dryer which is inevitable to dry his barnet on rainy days. He does not like the hairdryer near his face. These poodles are nothing short of practical.
